So, who invented Heaven? When and what for? Why do some people still seem to need it? An interesting and not very long read.

even with all the morons, I look out on a beautiful spring day, or an amazing flower, the moon on a clear night, the pictures from Hubble, etc etc and am constantly filled with awe at the Universe I am so lucky to live in.

Yup. Partly because all of _this_ is going away one day anyway but mostly because when it does I think time will pass more quickly in oblivion than if I had to spend eternity conscious and with the kind of people who think that they'll be going to "heaven".
