During the Bush Administration new FCC rules were passed about swearing and it's acceptable, or not, use on Television. One of the first fights in FCC's ability to do this is reaching the Supreme Court.

On a person note, I love Cher ever since I was a wee lad. Cher dropped the F-Bomb and that broadcast is part of the arguments in this case.
