We have a real life version of that going on in Glasgow right now. COP26 is in town and some of the electric Land Rovers will be charged with recycled cooking oil generators because there aren't enough charging points.
This is just one of many Wizard-of-Oz-Lipstick-on-a-Pig type shams that have been pulled to make the city seem more eco friendly and aesthetically pleasing than it really is.
Electric buses appeared the day before the delegates arrived. They'll probably disappear afterwards.
"Zero Emissions" train service between Glasgow and Edinburgh will only run for the duration of the summit.
Open to the public train platforms have had shiny, glass-fronted vending machines installed. These won't last either.
Multiple road closures increasing traffic congestion and emissions.
I could go on and on but suffice to say COP26 itself feels like a bad joke and something that is being done to Glasgow.
