German footballers seemed to have forgotten how to kick the ball on target the other day, but it seems the German judges had no problem hitting the bulls eye:

German court rules religious circumcision on boys an assault

Circumcising young boys on religious grounds amounts to grievous bodily harm, a German court ruled Tuesday in a landmark decision that the Jewish community said trampled on parents' religious rights.

The regional court in Cologne, western Germany, ruled that the "fundamental right of the child to bodily integrity outweighed the fundamental rights of the parents", a judgement that is expected to set a legal precedent.

It speaks volumes to the lack of respect of humans in a religion when the first thing the do is start cutting pieces off of your genitals.
 

exactly. among other issues this talk is about religion allowing children to die because their parents hide behind their right to have a religion. completely inhuman and disgraceful.
 
I was reading about this on some Jewish websites and they were basically saying that the whole idea that children had rights to bodily security were irrelevant because G-d told them to circumcise their boys.

On the other hand this ruling was in reference to Muslims. It'll be interesting to see how this pans out. The Germans are getting pretty sick and tired of this national guilt for the holocaust and making it about Muslims is an easy win for a rising anti-Islamic sentiment (partly fuelled by Jewish billionaires to encourage Western animosity towards Israel's enemies). Any attempt by Jews to overthrow this is a non-starter IMO and trying to get an exemption will reek of special pleading.

It looks like the principle instigators of anti-Islamism are hoisted on their own petard. I think this is a great ruling. I'm no friend of Judaism but only for the same reason that I'm no friend of Islam. Superstitions that tell people that they are "better" than other people because of some magic sky fairies allegiance are equally dangerous and wrong.

It's also a wonderful victory for boys. If they chose to snip that skin off later that's up to them - and that is exactly the point - it's UP TO THEM!

You'd think that would be countered by the Muslim billionaires spewing anti-Jewish sentiment.

Personally I don't think it's that simple and I don't think billionaires on either side play that big a role. However, movements like the Golden Dawn party in Greece touch a nerve pith people. Extremism and violence is clearly on the rise in Greece against immigrants, mostly Islamic immigrants. I don't believe it's so much of some kind of conspiracy, it's got more to do with a recent influx on immigrants, most of which are illegal. In Greece at least, Muslims are an easy target because Islam is a powerful symbol of oppression and enslavement for Greeks. Germans may not have 400 years of Turkish occupation to worry about but an ever growing number of immigrants who are forever changing their culture is a fair target for concern in my opinion.
 
Time and again we see Countries in financial crisis blame immigrants. Both illegal and legal for the troubles. Not only is this true of Europe but in the USA too.

I don't want to sound like a xenophobe, but there is A LOT of racism and crime between the north African immigrants here in Europe. This has nothing to do with the current financial crisis.

Well put, that's exactly what happened, in the 70s here in NL. Socialists were back then worried about the social consequences of the massive immigration of low educated workers, who were needed for work in industry and agriculture, which was booming.
The right-wing liberals were convinced the immigration was essential for growth so they ignored the social concerns. Later, when problems occurred, socialists tried to deal with these problems with projects that should expedite the integration of immigrants, as well as trying to deal with the discrimination immigrants faced. The latter was later on used by right wingers (politicians like Bolkestein and Fortuyn) to accuse the socialists of playing down the problems, also because in the years past, it became apparent that a lot of immigrants actually did not want to integrate at all, and despise the Dutch (as well as immigrants from other nationalities, like Turks and Surinamese).

This should be a new trend: the state should get out of the business of protecting religion from people and into the business of protecting people from religion.

Oh for F*** sake - she said Holocaust - always with the holocaust. If the Jews don't like it - bring up the holocaust because that's the equivalence - if they can't mutilate their little babies penis then that's like being gassed and burned in ovens.

When in Rome do as the Romans. When in the west do as the westerners. Not slicing the end off your kids dick is a small price to have to pay to not be living in a desert!!

I don't know how stupid they sound, but what I do know is that none of the Jews (or Muslims) in the video actually used the word Holocaust. The reporter did but it's not clear that she was quoting anyone in particular or just pointing out a fact that may or may not be relevant.

Isn't relevant but that is always the level of the discourse - yell Holocaust. Of course European reportage may be different but Magnay is a CNN correspondent and maybe the station's sensibilities demand that the subject of the Holocaust be brought up, but :

either means that Jewish leaders said it (and made it clear) or she's embellishing what the Jewish leaders said quite a lot.
