Glasgow school of art on fire

Indeed, I could see the smoke at lunch time.

I finish up in ten minutes so will get another look then.

this reminds me of the fire at Pratt last year or the year before. Students lost work there also....

Pratt is an art school in Brooklyn a few blocks from where i attended High School. I never attended but it's presence in the neighborhood was always felt.

Art just has that effect on people.

I've seen some of Mackintosh's furniture and art in museums and love them! My friend saw this school in person on a visit and speaks of it with awe.
What a tragedy!
 
It's probably my favourite building in the city. I've also had many a great night out in the student union and DJ'ed there for a good few years.
 
apparently the firefighters did a heroic job of saving 90% of the building.

time to clean up, rebuild and restore.

Yes, it was a pretty impressive effort. They coordinated with the Art School and the University to prioritise which items to try to rescue.

Shame the library has gone though:
