CLIMATE CHANGE 'FRAUD'

Professor Ian Plimer condemned the climate change lobby as “climate comrades” keeping the “gravy train” going.

In a controversial talk just days before the start of a climate summitattended by world leaders in Copenhagen, Prof Plimer said Governments were treating the public like “fools” and using climate change to increase taxes.

He said carbon dioxide has had no impact on temperature and that recent warming was part of the natural cycle of climate stretching over billions of years.

Prof Plimer - author of Heaven and Earth: Global Warming, The Missing Science - told a London audience: “Climates always change. They always have and they always will. They are driven by a number of factors that are random and cyclical.”

His comments came days after a scandal in climate-change research emerged through the leak of emails from the world-leading research unit at the University of East Anglia. They appeared to show that scientists had been massaging data to prove that global warming was taking place

Al Gore kicked out of the Global Warming Club

As the world turns away from the hysterics of the global warming crowd, the True Believers are looking for a scapegoat for their turn in fortunes. To blame Michael Mann or Phil Jones would be to admit that Climategate proved once and for all the fallacy of their “science” — that it was based on the manipulation of data and outright forgery.

Looking for dead weight in this sinking ship, Myles Allen of the Guardian has decided to toss Al Gore overboard: “Al Gore is doing a disservice to science by overplaying the link between climate change and weather. To claim that we are causing meteorological events that would not have occurred without human influence is just plain wrong.”

Now only to a true believer would there be no link between weather and climate. Myles Allen is not quite there, but he seems to recognize the problem 20 years of linking odd weather to global warming has turned into a farce. If everything proved global warming, then nothing really does.

Not ... (gasp) .. the Daily Express!!!! I guess it's case closed then.

Old news for Ian he released an anti-climatology book in 2009 -http://abnnewswire.net/multimedia/en/60780/VIDEO:_Professor_Ian_Plimer_Author_of_Heaven_and_Earth_Global_Warming_The_Missing_Science_with_Brian_Carlton.html

Politics does not establish scientific validity.

CLIMATE CHANGE 'FRAUD'

Jim,

Thanks for dedicating another thread to me but this only reinforces what I said on the other thread.

I have two main points regarding the above. I don't really expect you to address either of them but I'll relate them anyway:

1) First of all, Pilmer admits that global temperatures are rising. You cite this book to back up your view so seem to be agreeing with him, yet you now claim temperatures this decade are decreasing, whereas previously you seemed to be accepting the evidence of an increase. Your position is becoming absurdly inconsistent.
So that's point one: do you agree with this or not? If you think that global temperatures are decreasing, why cite a book that disagrees to back up your argument?

2) I can only guess that you really are not aware that Pilmer's book is complete tosh that has been thoroughly debunked.

Kurt Lambeck, earth scientist and president of the Australian Academy of Science:
He quotes a couple of thousand peer-reviewed scientific papers when mounting specific arguments. What Ian doesn’t say is that the vast majority of these authors have considered the totality of evidence on the topic of human-induced global warming and conclude that it is real and a problem.
or Earth scientist Andrew Glikson:

Plimer’s book claims current global warming is a natural event consistent with climate variability through time and attributed primarily to the sun.
The book negates the well documented consistent relations between climate and carbon gases, which through the Earth’s history resulted in temperature changes in the range of several degrees C , including abrupt climate changes and related mass extinction of species .
and astronomer Michael Ashley:
Plimer has done an enormous disservice to science, and the dedicated scientists who are trying to understand climate and the influence of humans, by publishing this book. It is not “merely” atmospheric scientists that would have to be wrong for Plimer to be right. It would require a rewriting of biology, geology, physics, oceanography, astronomy and statistics.

and one which I saw and thought of you, by computer scientist and climate change commentator Tim Lambert:
He accepts any factoid that supports his conclusion and rejects any evidence that contradicts his conclusion.

Actually, I'd just prefer real news. Preferably something scientificly relevant.

Your fascination with Al Gore is not scientificly relevant news. You are absolutely obsessed with him and that tickles me but it's not news.
Please don't expect me to respond seriously to an attack on Al Gore as though it somehow negates real science. I've tried to explain this to you before but you seem unable to help yourself.

anyway, the point is that some people can't tell the difference between actual facts gathered by scientists and gossip gathered by idiots

No offense, but you rarely add anything to a conversation other than insults.

Great comment! Too bad the press here can't do anything more than gossip mongering.

Sadly we see things like this happening in the USA. In fact Fox News claimed first ammendment rights to allow them to lie when presenting the news. Fairly pathetic.

No idea why I posted that but it seemed to fit the thread. Plus, you're wrong Red!

Ok, try it now. I edited my original post so scroll up a bit.
