It's hard for anybody to make a living in an Obama economy.

Depends on what you call "a living". The top 0.01% are still doing very well for the most part. Perhaps if we reduce their taxes further they will let us have some of their money, and maybe create some more jobs - in India or China.

What do you mean "WE"?

You talk like you have some say in the matter.
Let me remind you. You are not a US citizen. You only play one on Whyzzat.:p

We means everyone everywhere. The neo-liberal agenda is everywhere. The idea that if the rich don't get their money taken from them then they will give it away is being pushed all around the world.

You seem to think that the US is the only country on the planet. Perhaps you are just one of the typical Americans who fails to notice what is going on outside their country.

As to the Obama economy (as you chose to call it), at least it isn't an economy under crushing austerity measures. If you let the austerity guys run the place you will get to enjoy what the Greeks currently have (and which the British are trying to emulate).

My bad Fluffy. I thought you started a thread about Gingrich. I should have known you were talking about something else.

Yes, it was. It was about these wealthy guys who like to think that they what's best for the world because they have such great business succes but then it turns out that they can't actually run their businesses. It's a global phenomenon but Newt is a good name brand example to use.

Eventually enough of the yahoo elite will fall over having cut open the golden goose to get all the eggs at once, and then we will be left with the equally elite but more prudent rulers.

can you imagine a newt presidency?

callista with her secret service protection...

That is coming very soon to the US. It's only a matter of time, America has over borrowed and the house of bonds and derivatives will all come tumbling down. Austerity will be implemented when the American people beg for relief from massive inflation. First signs of the derivative market cracking are already appearing with Brazil complaining about US Dollar manipulation effecting their economy. US is now adding massive tariffs to Chinese solar cells and China will respond in kind. More currency and trade wars flair up, the further the derivative market crumbles until it implodes.

Congratulations Fluffy and to the rest of your merry band of Progressive/Marxist, America will soon be on it's knees, no industry left, penniless with worthless currency.

Problem with Newt is he is a spendthrift socialist. He always had big ideas and big plans for the US Government. Sort like Bush and Obama but on a more thrifty level. The golden goose will be slaughtered by Obama and likely under Romney. Yes your dreams and desires of America no longer being a economic superpower is about to be realized. If you think that the rot in the US will stop at your southern border, you have another think coming.

This is the fallout from a couple of classic bubbles that politicians didn't do anything to curb because a) they didn't want to rock the boat, b) they probably didn't know the boat was heading for an ice berg because they are not that smart.

The elites are currently running around trying to soak up as much real wealth as they can - as usual. The people who caused this crisis are the same types of people who caused the last big one - crooks and financiers who thought they were oh so smart and could outwit the laws of mathematics or, more likely, were unacquainted with them.

These crooks have been trying to escape the bottle they were put in by the New Deal for decades. After getting plenty of rubbing from the politicians they were feeling somewhat emboldened during the eighties, but at least when the dust from the devastation of the Savings and Loans settled out, back when Pappy Bush was veep, a bunch of people were in jail. Neil Bush was noticeably absent from the prison population - it's good to have family.

Clinton finally pulled the cork out and repealed Glass-Steagall and Bush the lesser let the crooks know that everything was cool when he failed to do anything of substance about Enron - and then proceed to help KBR and Halliburton loot the treasury.

It's been a long time in the making and it's not Progressives and Marxists driving this. It's the just crooks trying to get the people's stuff for themselves - and they have and they use it against the people now. The progressives, like the people who say we should treat gay people or black people or sick people or old people fairly, they're not the problem. The people who say we should treat the ultra rich as if they are saints and never do anything wrong and we should make sure that they don't have to pay taxes - that's the problem and those people are neither progressive nor Marxist.
