U.S. servicemember opens fire on Afghans; 16 reported dead


An American soldier opened fire on villagers near his base in southern Afghanistan on Sunday and killed 16 civilians, according to President Hamid Karzai who called it an "assassination" and furiously demanded an explanation from Washington.

Post traumatic stress syndrome?

Likely that and a whole bunch of other maladies. Being placed in a situation where everyone who is local could be the one to pull the trigger on you and your buddies can't be a healthy place to be for a prolonged period.

which is why I always say that one should NOT start a war until Every Single Other Option has been explored.

it's easy for some people to start a war but really really difficult to stop it and bad bad things happen in between.
I'm very glad my friend is leaving soon and the rest of his buddies soon after that.
