Mike / Fluffy,

Does Harper really have a chance of getting additional seats to possibly make a majority?

Harper Dissolves Parliament

There... now you have something at home that deals with conservatives you can complain about.

It's possible - and obviously he thinks he does. Canadian elections don't follow as strict a schedule as US elections. You call 'em when you think you can win 'em.

Actually, I think it's the longest running minority government ever, and it's been over 2 years, close to three I think since the last election.

At any rate, he may actually win, but not because Canadians love Harper. I think Harper will do what he needs to do to scare the Canadian people away from Stephan Dion's "Carbon Tax" policy. As a string Liberal supporter, I have to admit that Dion is most likely to get demolished on this issue alone - no one wants to talk about taxes at election time. Ever. Unless the word "cut" comes right after it. The fact that Dion claims that this is only a tax "shift" and not a raise, people really don't like paying taxes at all, so I can't see anyone getting excited about it. I mean really, if you're getting f#ck*d up the ass, does it matter what color the condom is?

So I suspect that Harper will win everywhere except Ontario. This means Harper will win, but he may not get a majority. However, if Quebec's Bloc continue their downward trend, he may in fact not need Ontario for a majority, so you never know. Stephan Dion will have to do some clever campaigning and even dip into Jean Chretien's bag of dirty tricks to pull off a victory here.

Here's to Harper's plane crashing into the Alberta Rockies! :pint:

:-D
