On Tuesday, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear arguments on the individual mandate. This component of the Affordable Care Act, the part that decrees that every American will either buy health insurance or face a financial penalty, is the most controversial part of health care reform.

The answer here is the government should tax individuals directly. Remove the entities that don't add value to the Healthcare process. These are insurance companies and your boss.

Well, of course it is. And it's very obviously the right answer. But the reality is, those entities have been there quite a while, and have enough money that they can easily buy off anyone who threatens their existence or funding. Hence, I don't think we're going to see a healthcare system that actually works until a major public revolt forces it. And I doubt that'll happen in my lifetime.
