Help the US Gov - go to jail : hurt it - golf with the Prez

Where's the problem McDeath?

Obama was your guy. You can't abandon him now.

Besides, he's the closest thing to your preferred form of government that you're likely to see. :roflmao:

I was never heavily invested in Obama. I was for Ron Paul.

Fascism? No thanks.

You seem to be getting "Not *quite* as bad as the last guy," confused with "your guy".

Obama believes the Republican Party is a party when in fact it’s a mindset, like Hitler Youth, based on hatred — religious hatred, racial hatred. When you foreigners hear the word ‘conservative’ you think of kindly old men hunting foxes. They’re not, they’re fascists."
wow!!!

Today religious mania has infected the political bloodstream and America has become corrosively isolationist, he says. “Ask an American what they know about Sweden and they’d say ‘They live well but they’re all alcoholics’. In fact a Scandinavian system could have benefited us many times over.” Instead, America has “no intellectual class” and is “rotting away at a funereal pace. We’ll have a military dictatorship fairly soon, on the basis that nobody else can hold everything together. Obama would have been better off focusing on educating the American people. His problem is being over-educated. He doesn’t realise how dim-witted and ignorant his audience is. Benjamin Franklin said that the system would fail because of the corruption of the people and that happened under Bush.”
so true! I've watched america become dumb and dumber.

I never expected Obama to reverse the juggernaut of bush stupidities. There's way to much mess to clean up in just a few years. Ii have to give him A for effort, tho. It seems he's slowed down some of the shit.

“Does anyone care what Americans think? They’re the worst-educated people in the First World. They don’t have any thoughts, they have emotional responses, which good advertisers know how to provoke.”
HAHA! he cracks me up :roflmao:
so true and so funny!

Uh-oh Fluffy! All of a sudden you are a right wing, racist nut? Of course you probably are not, but if I posted this that is the response I would get from our libs here.

As to the story, it really says it all doesn't it? All of these guys are corrupt, Obama seems to be more corrupt than the last guy...

Let me put my tin-foil hat on for a moment:

Obama is campaigning against McCain and all pundits agree - if it's about security McCain wins, if it's about the economy Obama wins.

Obama gets big funding from Wall St.

Wall St controls the economy (of which a small number of firms control Wall St, and a small number of individuals control those firms). Economy looks dire.

Obama rushes to Washington to make sure TARP goes through and proves his loyalty. Focus stays on economy.

Could be coincidence. Might be politics. Nothing moves minds and money like a good crisis.

As to the guy before Obama, he was corrupt too but mostly because he belonged to the corrupt classes. Fundamentally he was a puppet. Cheney was the guy with the Machiavellian nature and he knew how to pull puppet strings.

----

As to Obama's motives and methods:

He came up through Community Organization where things tend to be about generating momentum by collaboration among people that don't have anything to lose and want to get their share. That skill set doesn't translate well to a realm in which everyone has vested interests (incomes and future employment) hanging on making decisions which screw the little people. Here he needs to take leadership and dictate more. The only way to help the people at the bottom is to get those at the top to take their foot off the throats of the peasants. That is a hard sell. Maybe he doesn't believe he has good enough security to get away with it, and maybe he just doesn't have the dictatorial mindset.

It doesn't help that the people who most need the help are morons and have very little understanding of how they are kept down.

I just gotta throw in this interview with William Black.

To me, the single most obscene act of this scandal has been providing billions in taxpayer money via AIG to secretly bail out UBS in Switzerland, while we were simultaneously prosecuting the bank for tax fraud.

But read the whole thing because he says a bunch of other good stuff too.

I think that last bit is the most accurate statement. You can't help people who don't want your help. I think Obama is smart and knows that rapid change in US politics is a good way to an early grave (and not just metaphorically). Honestly, how many people here have not seriously considered that Obama might become the next President to be killed on the job? I'm sure he has. Instead Obama seems to be making smaller changes, at least to domestic policy. Even his ObamaCare program isn't really that radical, it's just that the conservatives see it as a step towards something that is.

Now here's another interesting bit of foil-hattery in the Huffington Post about how the Church of the Federal Reserve keeps the priests in line.

IN there, somewhere, there is mention of a study by James Galbraith, Olivier Giovannoni and Ann Russo that:

found that in the year before a presidential election, there is a significantly tighter monetary policy coming from the Fed if a Democrat is in office and a significantly looser policy if a Republican is in office. The effects are both statistically significant, allowing for controls, and economically important.
A little political manipulation going on?
