Do you think congress voted to start the destabilization operation and to train terror cells to operate inside Syria and pretend to represent the Syrian population under cover of legitimate popular concerns? Do you think they voted to do that in Libya? Do you think they voted to do that in the Balkans? Nobody even bothered to tell the Congress that they were bombing the hell out of Laos so getting a rubber stamp afterwards is a hell of an advance over that, I suppose.

But the government doesn't even run the country. Other interests are run large chunks of foreign and domestic policy utterly autonomously and congress, for the most part, is full of fatuous self aggrandizing and corruptible people - a commodity not too hard to find in the human species - the kind of people who will vote for things because they sound patriotic, or there is a pay-off for them in the future and who will barely understand any of it but know how to "go along to get along" - under elephant or donkey they will work to do the bidding of the elites who run the country.
