No other nation lets its people get raped the way the US its own.

(Well, not quite entirely. There are all those little third world nations that are owned by the larger nations of course).

And with profits so high, who would want to do sufficient testing to find out if the stuff is safe? Failing to certify can be costly. Paying off government insiders is cheaper.
 
A 2007 Commonwealth Fund report, "Aiming Higher: Results from a State Scorecard on Health System Performance," examined states' performance across 32 indicators of health care access, quality, outcomes and hospital use. Topping the list were Hawaii, Iowa, New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine. BriThe worst states were Kentucky, Louisiana, Nevada, Arkansas, Texas, with Mississippi and Oklahoma. The 10 worst performing states were all solidly Republican in 2004 and 8 out of 10 voted for McCain.
 
Another reason why healthcare costs so much? Drugs- and pushing drugs.

Legislation here could save billions. And allowing cross border shopping could save billions more... but the billions saved would come at the expense of some top predators - and they won't stand for that.
