Probably the same reason that every time something happens in Hollywood it gets rammed down our throats. Or maybe you should just move to Canada where everything including the election and the royal wedding is eclipsed by the Stanley Cup Playoffs. How many times have I apologized for Hollywood? At least the history of Hollywood only goes back ~100 years. This monarchy nonsense OTOH....

BTW guys, OF COURSE I am joking. In reality this whole royal this does indeed drive me bonkers. My sister OTOH loves anything royalty and has the #1 true royalty site on the web.
