Guilty until proven innocent is here and progressives are giddy.

Fixed mistype.

Justice Stephen G. Breyer wrote a dissenting opinion, joined by the rest of the court’s liberals. They said corrections officials must have reasonable suspicion that the person arrested poses a danger before subjecting them to a strip search that is “inherently harmful, humiliating, and degrading.”

good grief... why are your people trying so hard to destroy my rights and our country?

You don't know what the Progressive movement is obviously. George HW Bush was a progressive as are most other modern day Republicans in government, not just democrats. Stop thinking left/right paradigm.

bush was a progressive... really?

i guess that whole "neocon" label shouldve been "neoprog"?

really?

what earthly purpose could you possibly have to throw bush into the progressives... rewriting a little history in your spare time?

Naomi Wolf sees rising totalitarianism in this ruling. I wouldn't disagree.

"The political use of forced nudity by anti-democratic regimes is long established. Forcing people to undress is the first step in breaking down their sense of individuality and dignity and reinforcing their powerlessness. Enslaved women were sold naked on the blocks in the American south, and adolescent male slaves served young white ladies at table in the south, while they themselves were naked: their invisible humiliation was a trope for their emasculation. Jewish prisoners herded into concentration camps were stripped of clothing and photographed naked, as iconic images of that Holocaust reiterated."

This sort of degradation and humiliation is classic mark of authoritarianism often found in prisons and when it leaks out into the rest of the country then everyone is effectively in prison - and then you do what people through history have always done to get by - suck up to the guards and rat out other people even if you have to make stuff up. If you're not paranoid yet you're not keeping up.

No wonder a bunch of folk on here are always ranting about progressives.

Maybe we're finally getting closer to an explanation of what a progressive is:
Does it mean warmongering, money-grabbing, murderous, lying bastard?
Because that would sort of fit Obama too and some on here love to call Obama progressive.
I had no idea that was what they meant but, if it is, I'm getting on this progressive-bashing gravy train.

truthfully the difference between a neo con and a progressive is that neocons throw no scraps to the poor....

I've never been too much of a fan of labels.
Words like "liberal", "conservative", "democratic", "republican", "socialist", and yes, even "progressive", have so little of their original definitions left as to be almost meaningless.

The insistance on using such labels to frame a debate is unhelpful, lazy and counterproductive.
It also allows people to massage their confirmation bias without really thinking.
(All of this is only my not-so-humble opinion, of course.)
