When the iPad first came out I got one with the intention of writing a soft synth for it.

I did do a bit of research into ObjectiveC and iOS programming (iTunes U is very useful) and have some good ideas, but I've gone in bit of a different direction...

As part of the research I downloaded the softsynths available for the iPad and played with them to see how they did things. While doing this I got more and more interested in programming sounds instead of programming an app. I also got a real synth to play with and have a great time just fiddling with it and playing it.

I've got a few synths sitting around from years ago and eventually decided to put them together and build a home studio. I happened to get some money as I was doing this so I was lucky enough to be able to get myself some nice kit.

I've always wanted to record something so I took this week off work and decided to do just that. It was a bit of a long shot as I can't really play and I've never tried doing this before However, I've wanted to do this since I was a kid so I was quite determined to recored something!

I now have the guts of a track recorded :-)

Excellent - a kindred spirit!

Make sure you let us hear the fruits of your labour.

And happy noise-making.

What's your set up?

A bunch of old synths, a copy of Logic and a very nice firewire mixer.
Unfortunately I don't have any of the real "classic" synths (apart from possibly a Micromoog) but I do have a JX10 and Kurzweil, both of which should be classics.
The jewel in the crown is an Andromeda 8)
