"Protesters have also rallied to flags associated with Britain, whether it be flags of the colonial government in Hong Kong or the Union Jack."

“I miss the British-Hong Kong government before 1997. The British helped us build a lot of things: separation of powers, our rule of law, our entire social system,” said Alexandra Wong, 63, a protester who’s often seen raising the Union Jack at demonstrations, Japan Times reported.
 
Trump is looking weak here. Aleo, CNN's Chris Cuomo is a moron and mocking him is good fun over his "Fredo" outburst video, but is that really what should be trending today? Fredo is trending, but Hong Kong is not? I really doubt these trends are organic, but either way it is a really bad sign.

Don't know why you think Trump is looking week? He's winning the economic war with China.

Hong Kong is part of China. Great Britain ceded the territory back to Beijing in 1998. China has full control over Hong Kong.

Do I feel sympathy watching a once free society slip into the grips of an oppressive and totalitarian system ruled by a communist dictator for life in Chairman Xi Jinping? Sure. But the choices about Hong Kong were made decades ago, by Britain … now they have consequences.

The current protest will be crushed and thousands will be disappeared. Hong Kong will be entirely dominated by Chinese Communist authoritarian rule. If Great Britain wants to give full British citizenship the the residents of Hong Kong, so they can flee, that is about the only thing that can be done to help Hong Kong.

He's not strongly reacted to what is going on with Hong Kong. I wish he'd channel some inner Ronald Reagan here to fight the spreading scourge of Communism.
 
Hong Kong's ignorant protesters have their flags backward

Many demonstrators have taken to waving the colonial flag used for the territory before its return to China in 1997, and some went a step further, flaunting Great Britain's current Union Jack or the flag of the United States to show their desire for Western-style government or even intervention by those countries. Meanwhile, the flag of the People's Republic of China and its national emblem have been desecrated in a series of attacks as violence in the city escalates.

It wasn't until the Communist Party of China took power in 1949 that the country began to recover from this national trauma; rehabilitation programs and an intense anti-opium campaign wiped away the last vestiges of Western narco-imperialism. Everywhere, except Hong Kong

Whitewashing the crimes of colonial powers, to say nothing of waving their flag, demonstrates a profound ignorance of history. Imagine for a moment what the people killed in anti-colonial fights across the globe would think if they saw this wholesale embrace of their tormentors.
