What surprises me is that I thought, like here in NL, voting in the US should be strictly private?

It's supposed to. When I showed up to vote, I was prompted for multiple IDs, then asked which party's primary I was voting in, then given a ballot which was inside a thick envelope. Once I checked the box, I had to put the ballot back into the thick envelope and feed the envelope directly into the tally machine.

No human being was supposed to be able to see my vote.

The fact that they openly have "these are Hillary voters" loudly ushered past everyone else without registering is voter fraud and grounds for removal from the election...
