I need a laugh.

Faethor, Cecilia can't come out and play today, she's busy reading her collection of Thomas Jefferson letters.

You go boy, I'm all ears.

Typical hard line conservative: First he makes the rules and is the first to break them.

Ah screw it. I don't feel like waiting any longer. I was gonna try to be a good sport about it but you don't get to make the playground rules.

I'm not going to wait my designated turn and I'm not going to defend this. I know that might be a bit shocking to people who think that team is all that counts in politics (poor pitiful vacuous souls that they be) but policy is more important than personality. You can't blame Bush for this just because Bush ran one of the most secretive administrations in history. Making the White House less transparent isn't OK just because Bush did it. If it's the people's government then the people should know what's happening. Then again, it's only the people's government in theory. In practice it is a government made up of elite power brokers who manage the rest of the human and material resources of the nation for their own benefit. That is the purpose of government, after all.

Well, sorry about that Glaucus. I wanted to head to the lake for the weekend and was just trying to speed things up.

But team Canada has saved the day for the weak-kneed and faint of heart on our side of the border, although not without a sideswipe at Bush anyway. I guess it's just in the Canadian DNA.

Before I go I'll post some links to the lighter side of today's news.

One candidate going to jail.

One incumbent candidate quits his office.

Overall not a bad day for the good guys.

Two guys walk into a jewelers shop. They each steal an expensive watch. On of them is black and one of them is white. Which one is a thief?

If the future turns out as the article wants us to believe, then inndeed it will be sad. I'd recommend a watchful eye to see how this changes.

I question why it should be 1 person's job to ensure transparency. Shouldn't the heads be mandated from Obama to move towards transparency? And in turn be expected to carry this forward along with everything else they do?

Where Did All the Grown Men Go?

Seriously, why the hell are adult males writing like catty preteens on Facebook? Have we turned into a nation of 12 year old girls, pining for the Jonas Brothers, planning sleepovers and fighting over padded bras?

I’m telling you – if my dad were alive today, he’d be dead. Because he would have killed himself.

It’s not just Facebook. Seriously, how can a grown man feel compelled to write “EPIC FAIL” on a tweet? Yeah, I’m talking to you Eric Boehlert of Media Matters. You’ve gone gray: time to stop braiding the hair of your Barbie Doll.
gotta agree with this!

I'm not in public office so I get to be a bit more blunt, but even I know when it's time to be discreet. (and it's not here, it's on the job)

what is wrong with people??

On this there's a 'cost per average family' line. It's not really what that title is. If one read the bills it's a tax on TARP money for people above $250K. However, the average family is around $50K. Wouldn't the true 'cost per average family' be $0? They could fix this easily enough. Call it the average cost per family since that is what they are really calculating. Though doing that would still look a bit misinformative.

Getting off of the poor representation of information site and back on topic. Google found that HR1586 was purposed earlier in the year. A link to a Ways and Means document indicates March. This would indicate to me that far more than 5 days of access was available to the public.

Still a good idea but a bit late in the process. I think it was Ron Paul who proposed a bill not too long ago that would require that no bill that came to the floor could be voted on until representatives could read it. I don't think that one went anywhere.
"We have to pass the bill so you can find out what is in it" Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Mar 9, 2010
March? Man that is OLD news. Can't you Republicans just move on? :whack:

Seems to be on line as promised.

How about this:
Obama Demands Access to Internet Records, in Secret, and Without Court Review

Uh-huh. What Bush was doing sneakily, Obama now wants to make legit. Well, to be fair, Bush wanted to make it legit too. But it isn't really about Bush and Obama so much as it is about the people they work for (no, it's not WE THE PEOPLE). There were lots of Bushies defending the Bush administrations right to wiretap and snoop on people for "security" just because it was "their guy" doing it. Thanks to such moronic sycophants we now get the second act, the next crank of the ratchet and Republicans who did nothing now think it's OK to blame Democrats. Matthew 7:3-5

It was introduced as one thing (TARP taxes), became another thing (an aviation bill), and is now a batch of spending policies. (Cost: about $125 per family)

The most recent version of the bill was produced when the Senate passed a “substitute amendment.” That’s an amendment that deletes out everything in the bill and substitutes in all new text. What was in the bill 5 days ago, is not what is in the bill now.

In case you were wondering, this is the bill that Donkey's have decided to tack their $26 billion dollar public sector union bailout on to, that they robbed the food stamp program to pay for.

Oh well. I guess we couldn't expect the real power in the country to sit back and allow themselves to be forced to give the money back.

The bill as passed seems to extend "supplementary nutrition" to 2014 if that is food stamps. Also I don't see the public sector "bailout" (and is that even the correct word or is that just a word that politicians know people hate so they'll call it stimulous when they give money to the rich but bailout if they give it to working class people) but there seem to be lots of rescinded funding in the bill, mind you, only a few billion though.

Red? I'm not in this conversation. I trust government will do whatever is right as they have our best interest at heart.
