Rick Santorum wants to put an end to the distribution of pornography in the United States.

"America is suffering a pandemic of harm from pornography," Santorum's official website reads. "Pornography is toxic to marriages and relationships. It contributes to misogyny and violence against women. It is a contributing factor to prostitution and sex trafficking."

The former Pennsylvania senator states that, "as a parent, I am concerned about the widespread distribution of illegal obscene pornography and its profound effects on our culture."

Wasn't there some data a while back showing that the more conservative states were much more into porn than more liberal ones? Seems to me that whilst everyone says they want to ban it, if he ever got to look like he'd be in a position to do so his support would likely collapse around him...

Sounds to me like certain parts of the leadership doubt that the US will be able to maintain technological supremacy militarily and they are looking to breed up a bunch of conscriptable cannon fodder. Or perhaps it is the religious leadership that wants to out-breed the non-religious or religious of other denominations.

except that never works. many atheists came from religious homes and went to religious schools. Knowledge of the religion is what made them realize the illogic of the religious notions. The bottom line is that atheism just works. You live a happier life when you don't have to waste time with all that self-hating bullshit.

if religious institutions kept their business to helping people it would be just fine. but the minute they stick their nose in politics that's when the lose the argument
