Domino's Pizza managers burn down rival Poppa John's.

Two managers of a Domino's Pizza restaurant in Lake City, in north-central Florida, have been charged with burning down a rival Papa John's location. The motive? Police say one of the men admitted that he believed with his competitor out of the way, more pizza lovers would flock to his restaurant.

The Papa John's was gutted in the Oct. 20 fire.

Pizza? It's coming out of our ears here. Within a single 1 mile long strip we have. Papa Johns, Papa Murphy's, Canticlear Pizza, Dominos, Little Ceasars, Pizza Hut, and now they are building a new place called a Pizza Barn. A fire in one isn't going to impact anyone's dietary choices.

Now I know diversity is low in this area. There's two Chinese places but I'd love to see a Thai or Indian food being built instead.

Within a short drive (here in Greater Fort Lauderdale), I could probably eat any time of food you could imagine without exception. This story being from north-central Florida, I'd guess it is a much less populated area with limited choices.

Having so many choices to eat is both a blessing and a curse. It is a blessing because food is a pleasure that many parts of the world have in limited supply. It is a curse because when you need to shed some weight, what you are missing is never far away.

You have access to a curry house?

Can't argue with that, around here it's much the same.

Maybe you're right. Minneapolis isn't too far, about an hour's drive. I can get whatever I want there. Though it's often not warranted by a 2 hour trip unless ihe it's something special. Over time I've gotten cookbooks and tried to teach myself how to cook food. I've done most of the asians and have been focusing on Indian this year. The plus about this is I'm sure I use less oil, don't fry, less salt, less MSG, and more spices. And of course cooking yourself really puts in control of portion sizing.

Not really familiar with the term. Do you mean Indian food? I know an Indian Restaurant about 3 miles from my house. If you just mean someone who sells food heavy on the curry, we have tons of Jamaican and other island restaurants to chose from.

Probably my favourite restaurant is an Indian. BYOB too.

none of that sounds like real pizza to me. I could avoid them all easily

Winnipeg seems to be Sushi crazy lately. Even our little Italy (emphasis on "little") has gone Sushi + 1 korean BBQ joint. Which is fine by me, I prefer sushi to Pizza and I've written off restaurant pasta long ago.
