Iranian women’s soccer team forfeits 2012 qualifier over head scarves

A compromise seems to have been done and the Jordanian team were given the choice of wearing a specially designed caps that neatly got around the issue - those who were happy with the caps played, those who took issue with them didn't.

It seems to me that the compromise was a reasonable one, at least from where I'm sat and the problem is with the Iranian teams' managers.

and that's fine.......I just have a problem with the managers (I guess) thinking it's ok to put these ladies in a position where they could CHOKE because they HAVE to wear these stupid things on their heads and necks.
Because it's Religious.
Once again religious obsession is irrational , illogical and in some cases lethal

Absurdly silly nonsense.

I used to play a lot of fitbaw and the idea of a team wearing scarves, stupidly trying to compete with an un-scarfed team is a complete non-starter.

For a kick-off ('scuse the pun) you sweat like a maniac if the match is even remotely competitive. Add a head scarf and you'd be blowin' oot yer erse within five minutes.
