Israel not confident in Greek security

It looks like Israel doesn't feel confident to build energy projects in Greek Cyprus without bringing their own personnel. Considering the current unrest that isn't too surprising but will it go down well with the locals. Those are jobs they could most likely use.

Not having heard much about this, I read it as a diplomatic shot against Turkey. I'm sure some Cypriot Greeks might welcome this move as it probably does make them feel safer. Although, 20,000 troops won't be enough.

I'm sure there's something to that as well. An increasingly unstable Greece will not be able to protect Israel's interests in Cyprus against the Turks so obviously they'd like to get their own security in there. I'm just saying - when a bunch of heavily armed guys move into the neighbourhood and do jobs that the locals could be doing when they really need jobs ... Israel may just be adding another enemy to the one they already have.
