That's what a Canadian academic paper claims. It caused a ruckus in the Ontario legislature. Among those objecting was the MPP for Thornhill (Peter Shurman). The riding of Thornhill slightly more than one third Jewish and is, perhaps ironically one of the wealthiest ridings in Canada. Further the thesis goes on to say that should anyone dare mention that Jews are not daily being slaughtered in pogroms and are to the contrary doing quite well, thank you very much, the Jews will play the victim card.

English has no word for chutzpah, which is why we had to adopt the word from those who are most familiar with it.

Also, the culture of origin for this word is not necessarily the one most prone to such behavior, they may simply be the one least tolerant of it - and what better way to address that then by clearly defining it?

Ha ha ha. Exactly. And yet it's amazing how often this is said in complete and dangerous seriousness.
