John Kerry: Media Has ‘Responsibility’ to ‘Not Give Equal Time’ to Tea Party

Expanding the thread a bit I think this is a fair question. How much time for 'opposing' views is fair.

Pulling a political example from the science realm take a look at creationism vs evolution or anti-Global Warming vs climatology. What we see in science 'reporting' often the opposing view gets a large % of air time than support by the experts in the field. So, for example, should Global Warming reporting align it's time to the 95% of climatologists that agree with the idea or the 45% of Joe Plumbers that just haven't gotten the concepts yet? I think 95% but unfortuantely I see news acting on that 45%. This is unfortunate as someone less familiar with the issue sees this and can easily come to the incorrect conclusion that the issue is still unknown and up for debate. Going back to the GW example, there is no scientific debate on it's existence. Now this isn't to say news shouldn't cover items that appear to be anti-GW but they should be more akin to the acceptance of the science not the unsettled politic.

The news, clearly, is covering the Tea Party in droves. This group has existed for quite a while in Republican circles. It's simply a rebranding campaign. Well the politics of advertising is working for them. They get far more news coverage than their % support by Americans. So what happens here? Well things like large amount of Americans who think more taxes on the elites would be helpful (polls in the 70-80% area) get lost in the shuffle. People like Dammy believe this group is somehow equally represented by Dems, which is ludicris. And it may even influence policy as we see the Gang of 12 (you crypts better be scared of this gang) having no one that supports what the majority of Americans do.

The bigger question is what % of time should the news media be alotting the minority opinions? Is it truly fair to take up the bulk of time on the opposing view when their support is no where near that %?

He also says that we "need to get the European Central Bank, the IMF and G8" involved.

This was all planned as I reported years ago. No it is not just the democrats though they are the worst offenders. This is long planned by the so called progressives.

During the last UK general election the SNP claimed they should be allowed to take part in the televised debates between the leaders of the three main parties (Conservative, Labour & Liberal Democrat).

The BBC responded that the SNP does not have enough support across the UK compared to the other parties.

I'm not sure I agree with that logic as it's a bit self perpetuating.

Whilst I think I can see where JK is coming from, I don't really agree.
