We don't have a thread for this, so we do now. When it was announced I posted a status update about it, but Glenn Tipton has Parkinson's disease which has forced him to semi-retire from touring. It also doesn't help that he's the oldest member of Priest at 70 years old.
Judas Priest has handled the situation with class though. He's still an official member of the band an will perform on occasion some of the easier songs when he feels up to it. This just happened for the first time since the announcement and the crowd gave him a standing ovation.
It really sucks that our rock and metal heroes are getting so old and/or dying. With the way the music landscape has changed, I don't know if we will ever get quality music like we had and the several generations that came before us. Kudos for Priest putting the person before the money. I just hope music doesn't die completely within out lifetime. I can only think of a handful of good organic young bands in Blues. Rock and Metal seems to be a dying breed :-(
