Jury Mutiny

Good. That's exactly what the jury system is for. It is a check on the law makers, it's supposed to prevent the enforcement of laws that the public won't endorse.

In fact, one juror wondered why the county was wasting time and money prosecuting the case at all, said a flummoxed Deputy Missoula County Attorney Andrew Paul.

And that juror is absolutely correct.

I can't say much about letting an 8-time loser off the hook, but damn. If you're going after the guy, don't do it for the equivalent of "pocket lint" sized stash of MJ...

Over zealous prosecutor wanted another conviction. There is nothing like being in jury pool and having your time wasted for that big $10 per day pay check, before taxes, to get very irritated. Hopefully will bite the prosecutor in the ass around election time too. Hell the guy plead out on the other charges, its not like he was going to walk.

I actually was in a jury pool that could not be seated, and was dismissed because could not find 12 unbiased jurors in the pool.

Man on trial for "accidentally" placing his girlfriends 8 mo old son (not his) into scalding water.

We were questioned for two hours about if we would consider mitigating circumstances, and the defender discussed possible scenarios that might be mitigating. We were dismissed because the judge had a show of hands, and could not find 12 possible jurors in the pool who would "even consider" any of the scenarios mitigating.
