Keeping the Government's Secrets

Kind of reminds me of a story (possibly apocryphal) I heard once about some Russian top dogs who asked how the US government manages to keep such a tight control on information without having a state new agency like Pravda. What with the internet being so full of stuff these days searching for stuff I remember has become almost impossible. In fact, searching for stuff I think is important has become almost impossible. I lean to the "conspiracy theory" side of things, of course, that large news agencies like to flood the search engines with stories about trivial stuff that contains search terms for important stuff (it's what I would do if I was trying to bury information and had the resources).

The other way that information gets hidden is "personalization". One day I'd like to compare google search results for certain terms and see what "personalized" results different people get.
