The owners still regret having allowed the slaves to go free and vote. Not to worry. They are trying to reverse that sorry situation.
In Florida.
In South Carolina.

In Florida, they have been asking for photo IDs for years now, nothing new. Exactly what minorities do not have a photo ID in Florida? The only people putting up a fuss belong to the political party that is most likely to have voter fraud that supports their candidates. Whyzzat?

Obviously South Carolina can use some fixing for their systems because certain parties do like to cheat. For example, in South Carolina in the Republican primaries more than 900 dead people voted.

They need to learn better skills then, that would be an insult to the people of Chicago.

So Fluffy, exactly who wouldn't have a photo ID in Florida? Riff Raff? Slaves? You mean the poor or those of African decent? I really can't think of any group, other then illegal aliens who can not vote, not having some sort of government photo ID.

In NL, having an ID is as well mandatory for voting. Even moreso, there is a compulsory identification act that mandates people, as young as 14, to carry an ID card with them at all times in public space.

People who don't think that they should need papers in a free country - for one group.
But, yes, it's mostly the poor and students. These people often don't drive so don't bother getting a DL which is the number one photo ID pretty much anywhere. You can get government ID which expires every four years and it costs money but won't have much use for most people except when voting. The cards apparently cost $3 for the first one and $10 for renewal, replacement or change of address and poor people tend to change address more often. The fee schedule currently says that renewals are $25 though. That's a significant cost to someone on the low end of the income scale for a mostly useless item.

You also have to go in person to apply for your card and I'll bet that business hours are precisely the least convenient hours for a person who has a low end job. Getting your card means spending money you don't have and missing a day of work so it costs you twice if you can get the time off - which many job insecure people don't feel comfortable asking for.

There are going to be plenty of people who will still go ahead and get their ID, but it will be an obstacle for a certain percentage of people and election outcomes are often decided by extremely slim margins. You don't have to get rid of too many people to change a result. Remember Bush Vs Gore in Florida? Bush won by 327 votes.

Your full of it to, but then again, your not a US citizen nor a FL resident so you don't know squat and your pulling out of your arse.

Students get a photo ID, and I think they have to show it at all times now. Last time I was stopped behind a school bus, all the kids had their photo IDs hung around their necks or clipped on to their shirts. Lets talk about the "poor" for a moment. If they are "poor" they are likely enrolled in some assistance program through FL Dept of Children and Families. Guess what Fluffy, they have to have photo ID to enroll with FL DCF! I don't know about Canada, nor will I state some facts about Canada ways of life since I never been to Canada, but in the US, one can NOT get a bank account without a photo ID. One can not get a USPS Post Office Box without a photo ID. You can't buy many products, like cigs or booze without a photo ID (less your old, but it's been the law for decades already). Tried cashing a IRS/welfare check without a bank account, you will need a photo ID. Try to buy over the counter medicines in the US, you may have to show photo ID because of the ingredients might be used for crystal meth production. Hell, buying fuel injector cleaner at Wal-Mart requires photo ID less your an old fart (like me). Forgot about this one, going to a Dr? Gotta have a photo ID as well.

Now, in Florida, if you don't have your ID at the time you vote, you get a provisional ballet. Still get to vote, but they don't immediately count it until they can verify you were legally able to vote. By that point in time, they also begin to count the absentee ballets as well.

There is no reason for a person in FL not to have some sort of valid government issued photo ID to vote. Unless of course, you want to commit fraud.

Take an oath and have an elector who knows you vouch for you (both of you will be required to make a sworn statement). This person must have authorized identification and their name must appear on the list of electors in the same polling division as you. This person can only vouch for one person and the person who is vouched for cannot vouch for another elector.
Examples: a neighbour, your roommate.
