Killing for God

“The object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his.”

@Fluffy,
Doh! I forgot about National Religious Freedom day on 1/16. The day commemorates the enactment of the Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom in 1786. See 200 years ago Jefferson was fighting a contingent of Americans claiming the nation was founded by the Christian God. His response in statue was contained “within the mantle of its protection, the Jew and the Gentile, the Christian and Mohametan, the Hindoo and Infidel of every denomination.” in essence from Jefferson one’s religious identity, or lack thereof, has no bearing on one’s civil capacities.

Perhaps the next President will do more than sign an act but bring the truth to the front that the USA was founded by and for the people without respect to religious observance.
