killing Gaia, one web search at a time

One of the things I've noticed in the past 10 years is that computer technology has ceased to be about all out speed, more and more emphasis is being placed upon power usage (specifically, how little a given device will use). With ARM starting to make inroads into the mainstream computing sector via tablets and netbooks, I can only see the situation improving as computers for most people have been "fast enough" for a long time now.

However, no industrial technology I am aware of is ultimately "clean". In the end the oil will run out and unless an alternative is found, a significant percentage of the human population will starve as a direct result.

So how many polar bears has Weiner's weiner killed?
