An interesting video, slightly long but interesting, especially for those in the US. It is also applicable to a lot of other countries though the specifics change - but the main point is that police often play by a set of rules that they have to abide by but they don't share with you.

There is also a FlexYourRights web site which has a brief article on the front page at the moment about the Gates arrest.

It's good to know your rights and to assert them and most importantly not to inadvertently waive them - however you probably shouldn't make explicit reference to them or to make reference to the constitution; that could constitute reasonable cause to suspect you are a home grown terrorist.
