L.A. company acquires Amiga Games Inc.

Seems like a strange one. No mention of any of the games either.

Why have we never heard of with company?

The rumors are 'The Amiga Games Inc' is a Bill McEwen company. It looks like he's acquired (perhaps) some licenses from their original sources to package and resell games. I guess exciting if you want to see some of these 8bit items reborn. Though which games are listed, is unknown to the world so lots of ???

Nothing as exciting as a new MorphOS to x86 or anything.

I'm love to see a modern remake of Populous. Doubt that's one of the "classics". I'd settle for Stunt Car Driver.

Yeah, this is most likely shenanigans. Most of the games are still copyright of their publishers and not under whatever Amiga blanket company nonsense is out there.

Me too. That was a seriously great game. One of the best risk vs. reward racers of all time. Unfortunately, Geoff Crammond seems to have gone into hiding.

I'm with you. I guess because Amiga, Inc. appeared to be claiming they owned games which they did not. . A 'June 2013' creation of a new company and 1 month sale later seems to indicate a 'spinoff' of those investments. (Yeah I'm a pessimist and doubt Amiga Corp owned any of those games.)

There are were some seriously good games on the Amiga. It'd be good to see them in a small emulator package on a phone/tablet or even reborn/reimaged. I really want to know what 300 games were sold by this company that appears to not have existed until a few months ago.

Stunt Car Racer :)
There are plenty games nowadays that are "Amiga-ish" :)
Just browsing my games, I find:
Bang Bang Racing - top down racer, like all terrain racing
Bastion - top down rpg
Blackwell series - Point'nClick adventure
Capsized - Turrican/Exile hybrid
Fireburst - nice competitive racing game
Gemini Rue - Point'nClick adventure
Giana Sisters Twisted Dreams - 'remake' of the old Giana Sisters, except they completely redefined the gameplay
Hector - Point'nClick adventure
Hotline Miami - top-down shoot/beat 'em up, like Alien Breed but more way faster and more carnage
Intrusion 2 - 'turrican-like' shooter
LIMBO - Eric Chahi like game, atmosphere like no other
Machinarium - Point'nClick adventure
Mark of the Ninja - 2d sneak game
Primordia - Point'nClick adventure
Resonance - Point'nClick adventure
Rochard - Jump 'n Run/puzzler
Shadowgrounds - Alien Breed.
Terraria - 'digging' game
The Book of Unwritten Tales - Adventure
The Bridge - Puzzle game
Tiny Troopers - Cannon Fodder clone
Trials (2) - Kikstart clone
Trine (2) - Jump 'n Run

All superb games that already took too many hours of my life :)

Megalomania or The Settlers for me, thanks.

There does seem to be a maker for the Amiga era games if Team17's releases are anything to go by, so this sir of acquisition does make a lot of sense.

The only question now being, did this company in fact have the rights at all?

Sony had bought Psygnosis. They had lots of good Amiga games. Perhaps when Sony shut them down then Billy Eeew was able to snap up some patents. That might justify the price of the sale.

Psychnosis games were ok, but they had stunning graphics for the time.

Microcosm and Super Stardust! The graphics for those two persuaded me to buy a CD32.
Super Stardust is now a PS3 title. It's actually pretty good.

And Team17 release Alien Breed for the PS3 as well. It's a top down shooter game like the original, not the 3d immerse style they released later on.

@Mike:

Bugger me, that does look like bloody good fun!

Maybes I needs to gets me one o' them thar PS3 thingies....

There is a number of Alien Breed games for the PC on Steam.

PC games are not much use to me.
The only working PCs I own are my old winXP, Pentuim 4 desktop and an install of Windows 7 on my 2009 Macbook Pro.

Got an android device? Team17 do a fairly brisk trade on the play store. I'd be shocked if they didn't do iOS as well.
