Barack Obama demonstrates that he is clueless what gas mileage people actually get from their vehicles, apparently having last owned a car and bought gas in 1978.

The 1977 Lincoln Continental Mark V was that last car made in America that got less than 8 miles a gallon.

Obama scoffed at the notion of high gas prices and told the questioner that if gas prices were too high, then maybe he should buy a new cars.

For some reason, the AP has scrubbed from their coverage on the event, the quote “If you’re complaining about the price of gas and you’re only getting 8 miles a gallon.”

Q: How's that Obama Hope & Change working out ?

A: Hopefully, only average worse off than last year, but much better worse off than will be after more change, next year.

And let them pay handsomely for that cake. Obama's asking just shy of 36 grand a plate? Admittedly, that's only 34 and a half in Canadian but still a little steep.

Then again, it's par for the course in politics these days. Bush fundraisers were expensive too. Screw the grass roots, they don't have any money (for some strange reason) so let's not have them participating in politics.

The only way to get honest men into politics is to vote for someone you've never heard of. If you get to the polls and there's a name on there you have never heard of you can at least know that nobody ever handed him enough money to get his ads on TV.

Hypotheticals appear to be a new concept for you?

And if you really want to be serious here Obama didn't say car but 'monster SUV'. 2011 Chevy Suburban is rated for 10-15MPG. With some upgraded gears, larger tires, heavy stop and go, and a heavy foot 8 is acheivable.

Obama seems stunned that someone might actually *need* a larger vehicle, rather than it being only a status symbol.

I agree he shouldn't be stunned. Republicans are trying their best to defund Planned Parenthood, allow denials of Dr. prescribed 'day after' pill, and ensure Ignorance Sex Ed. More kids and more STDs is one of the Republican future. We all may need buses. "Spit Babies" for all! = John Boener
