A story probably not getting played in the wider media, it is barely making the news here.

Acquitted 'Liberty City 7' member talks about case

MIAMI -- A man acquitted in the so-called "Liberty City Seven" case says when the group took a pledge to al-Qaida, "nobody had their hearts in it," according to a newspaper interview published Sunday.

Naudimar Herrera was acquitted in May of charges of plotting with an FBI informant posing as an al-Qaida emissary to use bombings to start an anti-government insurrection.

Five others, including ringleader Narseal Batiste, were convicted at their third trial. They will be sentenced next month.

The old "make a terrorist cell: bust a terrorist cell".
Keeps the pay cheques rolling in and is easier than actually finding terrorist cells.

I don't know enough about the case to form an opinion either way. Despite it being relatively local, it just isn't getting media coverage. Hmm.. Maybe I should start picking up the alternative rags again.
