Logic, fakery and the Moon

Obviously I completely agree. I've often said the same to others. He has a nice easy way of saying things though. Thanks for introducing him to me.
 
As I have mentioned to others when we were working on From the Earth to the Moon we laughed at the fact that the computers we were using to make the effects were much more powerful than the computer they used to GET to the Moon.

When he points out that it was just easier to GO to the Moon that try and figure out how to fake film it I really understand that in a way that most people wouldn't.

This and the Mythbusters show where they go into detail "busting" all the wacky conspiracies really sums it up nicely

Faking the moon landing is a joke of a concept. The Soviets had the capability to track the progress of the mission and would have too happily blown the whistle if fake.

I remember about a decade ago a certain Commodore/Amiga Kommunity member who later became a geek celebrity told me about her trip to Europe. She said there was a serious documentary on TV claiming the moon landing was faked as pure fact. This was around the time of the frothy hate for Bush and and all things American. I think much of this consipiracy theory is rooted in anti-americanism.

Too true. The Soviets were the real intended audience.

It could have been that, I suppose, or it could have been a stupid conspiracy theory deliberately hyped to ridicule the idea of conspiracies, especially in places that weren't buying the Bush administration official stories on 911 and Iraq's WMD.

I know a guy who was, er, a spy.........and one of the things he did was monitor the soviets.

A few years ago the tapes of the soviet astronauts who died while in space (or where ever) was released to the public. HE was listening to those transmissions way back then.

HE was listening to the soviets as THEY were monitoring US going into space and to the Moon. He has ALWAYS said they would have blown it wide open if anything NASA did was 'fake'.

I'll believe him over the conspiracy nuts

I'm a big fan of Neil deGrasse Tyson and just found this gem. Now, aside from talking about Armstrong he does discuss how the technology of the time was as compared to today. And this is why I added it to this thread as it's just more proof of a non conspiracy. Plus, it's just good
