cattle market did a one day tank then rebounded the very next day. couldn't believe how much they were bringing today... look for processed beef prices to go up again... if we get the weather they are predicting for the summer i'd expect a pretty high "heat kill" rate going into august... in which case you can expect prices to go even higher. calves i was buying for 100$ only two years ago are at 500$ now, partly due to,( i think) 25 thousand head dying last year in texas... they had online buyers which is kind of cool (bali, sweden, and munich today)... and you can watch the sale live on thursdays... you might even get to see me... heh heh... sale starts at noonish (cowboy time is not even close to a science)

here's the link... scroll down to the russell webcam... it's online during the sale only... today you would have seen two old cowboys almost get killed by a 2100 lb big, black, very angry bull... (is that a hate crime?)

From the radio program last night my understanding is this type of disease is one of the randomly caused events. There's some protein twist in the DNA that is different between the random cause and the one caused from eating other dead cow brains.

Really it seems that consuming red meat is a danger. The question is how much danger and how much risk is acceptable within a society. That answer has so many shades of grey there'll never be a consensus.
