Hours after being released from jail, a man walked through an emergency door at San Diego International Airport, onto the tarmac and sat down on a United Express plane Tuesday, according to San Diego authorities.

"I still can't, in the world, understand how this happened," Blasgen said. "It sounds like they just have lax security or not enough management. Something was going wrong."
except their procedures easily and quickly DID catch this guy.

no need to start raping old women and child

No, the TSA system completely failed. It was United Express flight attendant who was the last line of defense who found the guy and not the TSA. I was against the security screeners from being federalized because I damn well knew what was going to happen, and it has. Time to do away with TSA and let the individual airports do their own security, hopefully with law enforcement officers.

hopefully with law enforcement officers.

dammm... im kinda iffy about that.... sounds like more regulation and comtrol to me... you know... which hasnt worked out so well... they paw kissinger and no one else... it seems....

exactly. more bullshit meaningless 'rules' but not one bit more efficient.
there was no problem here. the guy was caught. yes, the people on that flight were inconvenienced and I feel for them. but at least a process was IN PLACE to handle unauthorized behavior.

if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

maybe they could come up with a better way to identify luggage - like with those RFID tags. that way the luggage doesn't have to be moved. But the basic procedure used to identify the 'extra passenger' is ok. Of course, if (nearly) everyone has a plane ticket that has RFID info - like a photo id - then they could find the intruder that much faster.

where i live we don't worry too much about such things.... im lucky... i havent taken the keys from my ignition unless i thought my truck was unsafe for a drunkard to drive since i was 14, in fact if someone pulls my keys i wonder what is wrong with them. i havent locked my house ever, and if ya showed up at just the right time, you could have everything wendall and tbone will let you take....;) i have published both my phone number(785 513 0014) and my ssn(005762406) publicly and i'm still not a victim.... people!! we cant be buying the fearmongering in exchange for our basic rights to be left alone when we want... i have met the neighbors... they arent that bad... they want same, same as all of us... live their lives and raise their families...;)

my neighbors are fine, actually. One locks the doors because of people who may come in from outside the area. Although every once in a while we may find a nut in our midst.
when weird things happen it's truly shocking. Like when we had a bank robbery. I wasn't there so I don't know if it was attempted or what, but the guy was caught by the cops in the bank parking lot. This bank (which i go to once in a while) is mere blocks from the house....so, yes, THAT was weird. but we have been here about 20 years and that's the only time I recall a bank robber with a gun. I wouldn't exactly consider that a crime spree.

our biggest crime spree came at the hands of lesbians.... one, gut shot the other... i have no idea (only partially true since i can actually think and stuff)what it was all about... thats about it tho.... a crime spree around here is a gang of two or more cows getting out...;)

We don't get much around here. Sometimes there's a murder in the woods across from the house - a couple of years ago a jogger who was the wife of a mayoral candidate got killed. Found by someone walking their dog (as usual).

Then there are the various grow ops around town. Had one next door one time. Place I'm living in was one once - after it was sold by the triad guy who used to own it (but who's son was found dead in the swimming pool). I like a place with history.

But I really liked living on the Drive quite a lot. That's where the Italians hang out - playing numbers, running guns. That's also where the bikers run the drugs and the girls - the local mob shuns those things - kind of look down on them.

Downtown, skid row is pretty cool. It's not as dangerous as people assume. Watching all the broken people, junkies, toothless scruffs with their canes and walkers and they don't get killed that often - I used to hang out down there. It's colourful - though I have seen old guys getting mugged for their welfare cheques.

But we have more suicides than murders around here. Lot's of break ins and petty stuff mostly, I've had my stuff stolen a few times, seen the neighbours get theirs stolen too. All in all it's not bad - but if you read the papers you'd think the place was running in rivers of blood.

Oh, did I mention I saw a mutilated cat the other day? It's either that or the coyotes have discovered steel blades - it was quite proficiently taken apart.

u did mention something about a cat yes....:)... when i was younger i lived in vegas... cocaine was king... money everywhere... free love.... desperation filled the gaps... i was a minor still so i missed out on the "good stuff"... we used to ride our bikes to school through this small stretch of desert... the cops would do low and slow flyovers twice a day to make sure the bodies didn't go unnoticed... lol... good times! i went to a 6th grade center when i lived there that had more kids in the school than lived in victoria... talk about a culture shock....

You rather be pawed by some defrocked priest or by Deputy Dog who would rather spend the last of their law enforcement career inside a climate controlled facility? I think I rather have Deputy Dog since they may ask politely for me to walk through the body scanner a second time after the K9 gives me a sniff vs getting to know me on a personal level.

*shrug* Last time I flew to Greece, I accidentally took the wrong door and ended up outside the security zone without ever going through customs. No one ever noticed, just hopped in a taxi and away I went. But it was a fluke and I was lucky that no one just happened to be around. That was back in 1999. I imagine things have changed by now. Now probably everyone goes through that door. heh :D

As for Crime, Winnipeg always tends to make it to the top of crime lists. We typically battle it out with Edmonton for Murder Capital. Doesn't help that we have gang wars right now, one where the Hells Angels are actually losing - although I attribute that mostly to the fact that our political leaders are in the pockets of their rival gangs.
