Man flies like a bird with home-made cyborg wings

It'd be cooler if he wore a monkey suit. We named our cat Chistery after the first flying monkey the Wicked Witch, Elphaba, created.

that IS cool.....although I can safely say his arms ARE tired

well that sux... im just gonna go back believing it is true because it fulfills my evolutionary full circle theory... i wanna think that flight systems will eventually evolve back to its crazy roots of men jumping off cliffs with glued on feather wings.... :D

Booo!

Pretty convincing footage all the same.

Anyone care to explain the video-editing techniques? Tell me it's not just glorified photo-shopping?

I was pretty skeptical when I first saw it. The lack of tail stabilization was my clue. Though, after watching it and seeing more comments, the fact that the cloth was so slack on the wings should have been a bigger giveaway. But, at the time I kept quiet, because I was hoping it was real. lol!

I believe they said they are going to be releasing a makeing-of video in a couple weeks, explaining the experiment and how they made the video.

i hope someone gets so miffed over this they build a pair of working ones... it shouldnt be beyond our abilities... ;)

If you want to fly under your own power and with a much smaller wing surface, get yourself to Titan. It's surface gravity is ~0.14g and the atmosphere at the surface is about 4.5 times denser than ours. No problem generating enough lift there. Of course, it's at least 1,200,000,000km away at best and about 94K on a good day, but you might not let that bother you.

So, after global warming happens here, I expect our members of Winnipeg could move there. They should feel right at home. :D
