Monsanto Investigator in Illinois Laughs They Are Doing 'Rural Cleansing'
First they'll own all seed supply. No more farmers saving their own family lines of seed they will be forced to use Monsanto seed (just as farmers are now required to do by law in Iraq thanks to their new "freedom"). The result of that will be even more sever monocropping than we already have. If a disease arises that the Monsanto strain is vulnerable to, blammo, it'll spread like fire and there won't be enough other strains planted to cover and there'll be no way to increase seed supply fast enough to replace the vulnerable strain before people start to starve.
But not to worry... GE crops may provide their own solution to the problem. They reduce fertility. Hooray!!
But the threat of poisonous food (after all, it's better than no food) is small compared to the giant legal threat, to wit, one or two private companies in complete control of our food supply. But surely we can trust monopolies to look out for the public's best interests, just so long as they are private monopolies, right?
