The old British Empire did it but they were usually overtly occupying when they did. On a smaller scale all of the worlds powers have but usually on an individual basis cultivating moles and insiders and not so shamelessly. To completely co-opt the government of the worlds largest power to serve the interests of a tiny country created only six decades ago is a pretty audacious and perhaps unparalleled proposition.
That's just good old leader to leader stuff. That's as old as kings. What the elected representatives are supposed to do is be a counterweight to that. Of course, sometimes they are just lightweights.
I have NO idea what I'm really doing, but I installed the SSL cert on whyzzat.com, generated a secret key, then set up image and link proxies.
Hopefully the site now directs to https:// properly, doesn't generate any cookie errors, and is generally a better, more secure environment...
