Mental health group B4U-Act looks to remove stigma from paedophilia

B4U-Act said that 38 individuals attended a symposium in Baltimore last week, including researchers from Harvard University, Johns Hopkins University and the universities of Illinois and Louisville. According to the group, which was said to not endorse every point of view expressed, the speakers in attendance concluded that "minor-attracted" individuals are largely misunderstood and should not be criminalised even as their actions should be discouraged.

Speakers also argued that people who are sexually attracted to children should have input into the decision about how paedophilia is defined in the DSM, which they said is supposed to be a guide to promote "mental health vs social control".

Yes, it should. A child cannot give consent or in the cases of those liking them really young even be claimed to be capable of informed (albeit not legal) consent.

That said, I would welcome non hysterical discussion of paedophilia.

Well, depends on what you mean by hysterical. That BrassEye "Paedogeddon" special was hilarious...

"...after a stairwell nonce-bashing left him quadraspazzed on a lifeglug. But what if pervert mechanics were able to transform him into this? .... A robo-plegic wrong-cock..."

LOL, I'd forgotten all about that!

Also the Paedo finder general from Monkeydust.

Man - this is making me want to resurrect the script I wrote for "Captain Eugenics"

The age of constent is different in different states. We've established the ages based on societal acceptance. This is why different states have different ages for the same activity. I think the one thing the legal system and the laws are behind on is establishing a true age for adulthood. What we should be looking to is the best science to determine the development of the brain and when biologically adulthood exists.

At present the answer here is 21 years. This is the age when the brain slows down it's changes (it never stops) but when it's not undergoing the rate of change seen in children or teens. If something is an adult only activity then it's age of constent should be moved to 21. This includes things such as drinking, marriage, relationship activities with other adults, partaking in military events (be it cannon fodder or leadership such as ROTC), smoking, voting, and the other 'adult only' activities.

Now this doesn't mean we don't talk to kids about these things. Instead we education and prepare them for adulthood with what these things mean and why are they special.

Unfortunately if you're going to raise the age of consent up to 21 across the board, the only thing you'll end up doing is increase the rate at which "kids" are convicted of statutory rape. The human body is good to go as far as sex is concerned from around 14 onwards... That they may not have mentally matured enough to fully understand the consequences is where the issue lays. There are good reasons why there are variations on when activities become legal.

If you honestly think you're going to win in a fight against millions of years of evolution, I've got some really bad news for you.

Yes, it should stay at 21 as it keeps a steady stream of young Americans traveling up to Canada to experience our night clubs and strip clubs at the tender age of 18.
