It's pretty silly. In 2004 Greece was armed to the teeth including Russian S300 long rang surface to air missiles. They spent 1 billion dollars just for security and that mostly at the insistence of other nations like the US who worried of terrorist attacks. Since then Greece has suggested that the cost of security be shouldered by all participating nations, but I don't think much has come from that.
 
I guess they're thinking along the lines of civil aircraft being used Kamikaze style where short range CIWS SAM's would be quite useful. With that in mind, I wonder how the Greeks thought the S300 would be suitable.
