The crooks that rip us off operate like little children, chuckling over their "clever" plans. Meanwhile we believe that they are sophisticated and working in our best interest so it is very hard for normal people to believe that they really are so petty and simplistic.

I believe it was featured in "Sicko" but I don't know who originally dug it up or when.

I just find it interesting how mundane and normal it is. It sounds to me not unlike the time I sat in a waiting room while my car was getting a tune-up and the mechanics were chatting in the office with the door slightly ajar. I listened as they chortled about how stupid customers were and how easy it is to pad their bills with extra charges for no work done - the moral theory in effect being "if they trust you then they deserve to be ripped off" or: "a fool and his money are soon parted".

I suspect we won't be getting such great revelations about US administrations in the future. The last Bush administration pout in a lot of work to prevent Dubya's records falling into pubic hands and Cheney has made sure his records will stay hidden too. And they even worked hard to make sure that Pappy Bush's records as President and all of the Iran-Contra-ing he helped with under Ronnie will be under Bush family control in perpetuity.
