Summary - A group of high school buddies in their "40 somethings" decide to revisit their favorite stomping grounds (ski lodge) from their youth. Each is going through a mid-life crisis and one of them is just tagging along (nephew of John Cusack's character). Something happens in the hot tub and they do more "revisiting" then they planned.
The Good - The cast is solid and it's quite apparent that they had fun making the film. No one really stands out, which is good because this is supposed to be a group of friends trying to recapture their youth.. more than they realize. Special nod to Chevy Chase for his cameo in the film, Crispen Glover (amazing how he never seems to age)... as well as the band Poison. It was fun to see Cusack sort of parody all of his teen films. I'm guessing he finally got the last laugh.
The Bad - The humor in this film is all at the high school level. If you are expecting something sophisticated, this film is clearly not for you.
The Ugly - Nothing noted.
Final Verdict - 6.5 out of 10. It won't win any Oscars and it doesn't have any deep embedded meaning that you are supposed to walk away with... it's just fun. If you were in high school during the 80's and you have good memories of that time, this film is for you. Not only do you get to laugh at your 40's but you also get to laugh at a decade that many decry as forgettable. So bring out the bright colored spandex, leg warmers and all the other "fashion" that defined that decade and enjoy a fun matinee!
