Thing is ... the media really wasn't that keen on him. Fox lambasted him quite unrelentingly - but all of the networks and newspapers gave McCain what was pretty much a free ride. There should be much more scrutiny of all the candidates and much more in depth questioning in debates, the whole US "Who Wants to be the Prez!" show is a total joke anyway, but because Obama can speak in whole sentences and has presence, he just makes making TV easier. It's kind of "reality tv" - he makes content so the networks don't have to. Is that unfair? What the heck was Palin for? To get on TV and get a buzz. All part of the game apparently except Palin was a moron and Obama wasn't and slightly more than half of the electorate aren't morons either. Just how it works out.

Personally, I already stated this, I'd have rather seen a Ron Paul / Dennis Kucinich race. They are the only two guys who were talking about anything important - but important doesn't sell advertising minutes. Oh well.

To be fair, with guys like Murdoch running the show it can't be anything but 'liberal'.

What I want to know is when are we supposed to start calling those complaining about Obama anti-American? I've been getting called that for eight years. Now the shoe's on the other foot.

Can't argue with that. Kucinich was the only one I consistently agreed with. I didn't agree with a lot of what Paul said but he at least came across as having integrity.

You're right, I don't. One day you may feel the same way too but first you'll have to learn that just because you agree with it, or just because it makes you feel good or makes you feel special ... doesn't make a thing true.

I discovered an interesting site - politifact. that page has details about Ron Paul. notice even the "false" statement is not really false, it's just that they have very stringent standards (how unusual).

anyway, I've seen so many great comments by Ron Paul I can't help but feel honored he's a fellow American.

Personally, I think the idea that the media got Obama elected is BS. First of all, if the media was that powerful, it would be President Clinton right now. But even before that, it would have been President Gore. Every time the Democrats succeed it's because of the liberal media, but what's the reasoning when the Democrats fail? It seems to be conservatives like to lay the blame for their shortcomings where ever it's most convenient, often ignoring the true reasons. Fact is there were plenty of problems with the Republican way of doing things, own up to them and fix your party. It's time to get a clue!

But more importantly, there is much cause for concern when it comes to the US media in general:

All that, plus US news is geared mostly for entertainment value. They love to stir up controversy on certain hot topics and pretty much ignore everything else. That's why I watch/read Canadian news, BBC and other international media.
