It's not just huffpo.

Do you really think the CEO of a company like Haliburton was personally involved in the day to day operations of a subsidiary company? I'm not claiming to be a fan of Haliburton, but let's be real.

CEOs are liable for this sort of thing. They do have responsibility for trying to make sure such things are stopped. However, it doesn't matter what I think, nor what you think. The Nigerian prosecutors believe they have a winnable case. Haliburton seems to think that it is better to throw money at the Nigerians (and quite a lot of it) rather than go to court.

Red this statement appears to me that you believe we shouldn't hold people responsibile for the actions of their companies? Companies can't be put in jail only people can.

Nigeria has had an extradition treaty with the US since the 1800s. Though I'm doubtful if a Nigerian Sheriff orders an arrest that anyone will act on that legally binding arrangement.

Come see me when Bank of America's CEO, past and present, are both arrested and sentenced to lengthy prison sentences.

Oh that settles it. Letting 2 criminals go is far better then letting 1 go. Seriously Red did your Mom not teach you two wrongs does not make it right?

Did I say that? Bank CEOs are far more involved in day to day operations than the CEO of a company like Haliburton is over a subsidiary. You are just biased by the fact you hate Cheney politically.

Umm actually no. Reread what I wrote. I called the Bank CEO a criminal too. I too think they should be tried for their actions.

the BOA ceo's should be hung, but stop the nonsense with chaney. he started a war for his own pleasure and profit. the hatred for him is deserved.

Looks like Halliburton will pony up a quarter of a billion dollars to keep Cheney out of jail.

Wonder what kind of things a guy could get up to always knowing that someone is happy to come up with that kind of money to make all their problems go away.

am I the only one who is throwing up by the idea that this company has a quarter of a billion dollars to throw away just like that???

and this is money that was stolen from taxpayers.

ugh!
