They got their machines checked by independent security analysists and ... they're crap.

The problem with electronic voting (or the great advantage) is that it only takes a couple of people to steal an election, whereas you used to have to organize thousands. It is a great advance in "democracy", but it is also worrying (and folks like Stephen Spoonamore worry about it) is that the system is vulnerable also to foreign powers who may work for their own preferred outcomes.

It will be good to see more people going back to paper. It's not perfect, of course, but it takes more work to rig.

I personally prefer paper / optical scan voting machines. :D

Good, old fashioned marking a cross on a ballot paper still works for me.

needless to say i have NEVER voted for a party, so I've never "STV"

people have to get off their lazy asses and pay attention to voting

Here's someone who voted STV

and this is why:

Tracy Lopez was using a touch screen machine
"When I pressed 'Barack Obama,' it checked off 'John McCain,' " Lopez wrote. "I de-selected, and instead of taking any chances, I chose straight Democratic ticket rather than go through the whole thing and have any mistakes."

Maybe McCain will "win" after all.

I seriously doubt a McCain victory. In fact, I don't think it'll even be close. My prediction is for a landslide Obama victory and the election as a whole will be anti-climatic. I get the sense that the media fully understands this, they seem to have to dig really deep for any evidence to support McCain has a chance. Even Palin is campaigning for 2012.
