no plan b for my raped daughter

Quite a few questions spring to mind here.
e.g.
Her daughter has no say in this whatsoever?
How old is she and and exactly how limiting are her disabilities?
Is it any fairer to take such a decision on her daughter's behalf than to let her make her own mind up?
Did she discuss this it with her daughter at all, or even attempt to explain? (If not, she's behaved monstrously.)

Despite my desire to murder.... I am pro-life.

Except when in favour of murder?

Pro-life, when it suits.
Pro-death the rest of the time.
So often the case.

Genetics is powerful and heritability of traits is strong.

Q. Do we need to add the offspring of a mentally disabled female descendent of possibly a prostitute, and a male rapist, to society? Is this a good thing?

If rapists have children that survive then genetic traits that lead to rape win.

Can this daughter raise a child? Will the mother raise the child - a child that she is not related to, may be challenged and was fathered by someone who violated her adopted daughter?

when i first read the story i thought; "this woman has no understanding of genetics on even a minimal level" and that scares me about people... then i read her bio... think tank? yikes....

Elise Hilton is a writer, mother of five and wife, currently employed at a think tank. She has been married for 24 years, and holds an MA in world religions.

Do we need to? Definitely not in the context of this story. But if you were talking more broadly, well. Hmmm... Nature usually dealt with genetic defects with death. I could argue that mankind's biggest perversion of nature is that we allow the weak to survive at all. As for the rapist genes, well, surprisingly, that's a trait nature would always reward. The golden rule for survival has always been that the survival of the species trumps the survival of any individual. Mixing the two however is kinda weird.

My own thought followed this, coupled with a concern about the daughter. Developmentally challenged and bipolar, having suffered the trauma of rape, now (potentially) dealing with both the trauma of and hormonal roller coaster ride of pregnancy... What could possibly go wrong?

The comments on that story are... well they take my breath away.

Most people who are against abortion believe that life starts at conception. This story really sucks because it lacks details. How old is this girl? A minor?

I am not for forcing rape victims to give birth. I am for personal responsibility and a rape victim did not have that luxury. In this situation, a morning after pill would be far better than hacking up a kid at several months along.

Whilst I would argue the point about life starts at conception and "hacking up a kid" I do agree with it being better that she have plan b rather than an abortion later. If for no other reason than adding yet more trauma.

One thing I thought about a little later was, if she does end up pregnant, if she's bipolar its likely she has to take meds for that. Most psychiatric drugs cannot be given to pregnant women, even mild anti depressants. I dunno about you, but having seen a bipolar woman in a full blown fugue state, I have to say it ranks as one of the scariest things I've ever witnessed first hand. I can't off the top of my head think of a way to bring about an even more unstable state to that kids mind. And the thing is, in a fugue state it might well not be her life she takes.
