The next step in curtailing travel:

Putting more TSA control on train passengers.

The no-fly list has been used to prevent labour activists and peace activists from getting places and now perhaps they'll stop certain such "undesirables" from traveling by train too. With politicians talking about mandating GPS to report on travels in all cars too and more internet restrictions coming it may be possible for the rulers to curtail un-American ideas like freedom and rights from circulating in the population.

I know, that's all crazy talk. But if you had read the PATRIOT act before 911 you'd never have imagined that America would ever subject itself to such a thing ... and yet, this temporary security measure keeps on going. So long as there was an evil Communist empire to point to such police state tightening was treated as an example of the abhorrent proclivities of Stalinism. Now that the counter-example is gone it has become an American value to put your nut sack in the hands of a government agent so he can allow you to travel on the ticket you paid for.

And yet most people shrug their shoulders, eyes glaze over, and say something stupid like "we all have to be vigilant".
